Introduction to automobile transmission

Apr 24, 2022

一、 Position of transmission

Located at the rear of the engine, its shell is fixed on the engine by screws.

二、 Function of transmission

1. Change the transmission ratio (determine the speed of the car running forward at the same engine speed)

2. Change the direction of force (reverse gear)

3. Achieve neutral (idle operation in place)

三、 Classification of transmission

The transmission is divided into manual transmission and automatic transmission according to the type, and their gear lever is also different. As we all know, the automobile is divided into front drive and rear drive. In order to adapt to it, the transmission is also divided into transverse transmission and longitudinal transmission. The transverse transmission corresponds to the front drive and the longitudinal transmission corresponds to the rear drive.

四、 Composition of manual transmission

It is usually composed of input shaft, output shaft, intermediate shaft, differential and reducer (the differential assembly of transverse transmission is assembled with the transmission), each gear, bearing, synchronizer, shift mechanism, shift fork, oil seal, lubricating oil, housing, output flange, etc.How does the manual transmission shift? Let's first understand one of the important parts (synchronizer) to shif。It is composed of gear sleeve, synchronizer, etc.In fact, the realization of shift is to connect different shift gears and synchronous rings through the joint sleeve. Then the power is output to the output shaft through the synchronizer to realize different gear output. When shifting, we move the shift control handle, and then pull the shift fork on the transmission to work under the action of the shift cable. The shift fork moves the joint sleeve on the synchronizer to realize different gear changes.

五、 Self locking and interlocking device of manual transmission

The function of self-locking is to prevent the vehicle from shifting or out of gear automatically during driving. The function of interlock is to prevent two gears from being engaged at the same time.
